New redistricting map advances

The new county redistricting map was tentatively approved after a public hearing on the proposed changes was held prior to the monthly County Board of Supervisors meeting on Sept. 20.  As mandated by federal law, after every decennial census, counties and states are required to reconsider their district boundaries.

City Council sets Halloween hours

The City of Adams City Council convened its only session of the month on Monday. Substituting for Mayor Hilson, the session was opened by Alderperson Jungenberg-Klumb.
In new business, the City Council agreed to set the hours for Halloween trick-or-treating from 4 PM to 7PM on Sunday, Oct. 31, consistent with previous years.

Sindelar called the meeting to order and roll call was taken of board members. Trustees Berry and Pierce were not present.  Also attending were the Public Works Director and the Village Attorney.

Community Conversation Recap

On Thursday, September 9th, the Adams-Friendship Area School District (AFASD) hosted a “Community Conversation” to discuss establishing a foundation for the District for the next 30 to 50 years.  Two issues were discussed, the future financial needs of the District and the future facility needs of the District.

Remembering 9/11

On Saturday 9/11 the Adams County Fire District paid tribute to the fallen from September 11th, 2001 with a small ceremony. The members, fully geared gave a moment of silence at the exact time that  each of  the twin towers fell.  The flag at the station was lower to half mast during the ceremony and remained there until the following day.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office released its 2020 Annual Report last week summarizing its activities that saw the Office adjust to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Referendum Possibility Discussed

Board President Richard Pease called the monthly meeting of the Adams Friendship Area School District’s Board of Education to order at 7pm on September 13, 2021 at the A-F Fine Arts Center.  All Board members were present.
