Adams-Friendship Class of 2022 Valedictorian, Salutatorian

Adams Friendship High School is proud to announce the 2022 Senior class Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the upcoming graduating class.  This year the highest ranking student graduating is Audra Gallick. Her rank is based on the highest grade point average in the class. Second in the class and named Salutatorian is Karley Beaver.

Quilts of Valor - Honoring Veterans

 The Quilts of Valor Foundation covers service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing quilts. They award quality handmade quilts that are machine made or hand quilted. The quilts say “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.”

County Updates Coronavirus Policy

Based on new guidelines approved by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Adams County COVID-19 Plan was updated by the Administrative and Finance Committee on Monday. The new guidelines set a three-tiered approach to trigger certain requirements like the wearing of masks and social distancing.

Safety Alert From The Adams Co. Sheriff’s Office

On Sunday, February 27, 2022,  there were two separate incidents where a machine went through the ice at the same location.  The open ice has been taped off with caution tape. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging the public to avoid the ice on Castle Rock Lake under the County Highway Z bridge near Four Seasons.

ARPA Workgroup Discusses 6 Projects

The ARPA Workgroup met on February 25 to consider funding requests using the approximately $3.9 million given to Adams County through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) approved by Congress and signed into law by President Biden.
Six new projects were proposed at the meeting.

Carole’s Fashion Delights Celebrates 40 Years Serving the Community

On June 1, 1960, Dr. Martin Janssen and his wife Carole came to town with two little boys in tow. They moved from Oak Park, Illinois when Carole’s father, Dr. Weihe, called and asked Dr. Janssen to come to Adams to help start the Adams County Memorial Hospital.

City Well #4 To Be Operational Soon

The City of Adams City Council convened a brief 15 minute session on Monday, Feb 21. The roll call affirmed that all Alderpersons were present. Two guests were in attendance.
Mayor Hilson announced that the 2021 audit has begun. He also urged residents to observe the winter parking restrictions despite the mild winter.

ARPA Funds Allocations Considered

The Adams County Board of Supervisors took up three resolutions at its February 15 meeting to consider further American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) expenditures. Adams County received approximately $1.9 million in 2021 and will receive another $1.9 million later this year.

Howard Travis-Driving Bus for 50 Years

Wisconsin School Bus Driver Appreciation week began on February 14 and our local bus drivers deserve to be appreciated.  One driver, Howard Travis, 85 and a half years old, who lives about five miles out of Big Flats in the Township of Colburn, will soon be celebrating 50 years as a bus driver!
