CJCC plans for 2021 after 6 month hiatus

The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) held its first meeting in six months on Jan 4. The CJCC, which normally meets quarterly, postponed its October 2020 meeting due to COVID-19 concerns.

Bowe sent to prison for 2017 strangulation case

After having his probation revoked, Nicholas Bowe, age 41, returned to Adams County Court on Dec 15 to be resentenced for a 2017 matter where he attempted to strangle his mother. Bowe is currently serving a four month sentence in Sauk County jail.

Friendship man sentenced for third domestic abuse charg

Chad Lamont, age 44, of Friendship, appeared in Adams County Court facing three charges including misdemeanor battery (with domestic abuse assessments), criminal damage to property as a domestic abuse repeater, and disorderly conduct as a domestic abuse repeater. His prior convictions were in April and July of 2019.

Man sentenced to 75 days for 3rd OWI

Mark Filenius, age 55 of Prentice, appeared in Adams County Court on Dec. 16 facing charges of hit-and-run and driving under the influences as a third offence. His previous OWI’s were in 1993, and 1995.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is joining law enforcement agencies across Wisconsin during the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign from Friday, December 18 through New Year’s Day, January 1.

Local man charged with 2nd OWI, fentanyl possession

Thomas Cotter, age 56, appeared in Adams County Court on Dec. 9 facing charges of possession of narcotics, operating a vehicle on under the influence, and for possession of drug paraphernalia. Two other drug-related charges in a separate matter were read in and dismissed. Cotter’s first OWI was in 2015.

Minivan driver who caused accident injuring 7 appears in Court

The man apparently responsible for the December 2019 vehicle crash at STH 21 and CTH Z appeared in Adams County Court on Nov 21 facing seven counts of reckless driving causing injury.

Droste, now age 68, submitted his petition in Sept of 2019. The hearing was held in Juneau County Court.

Nekoosa woman sentenced for theft

A Nekoosa woman was sentenced on Dec. 2 for her role in stealing items that later were sold to a Wisconsin Rapids pawn shop. In all, 21 items were stolen and pawned.
